TASHA GHOURI OPENS UP ON THE ‘PRESSURE’ OF STRICTLY DURING LOOSE WOMEN APPEARANCE

25.10.2024

Tasha Ghouri appeared on Loose Women alongside her Strictly Come Dancing dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec where they opened up about the “pressure” of the show.

After a successful start to the show - and receiving three 10s from the judges in only her third week - Tasha and Aljaz are already favourites to win the show.

But Tasha told the show she is trying not to put herself under too much stress. She said: "In some ways yes [there is pressure], it's kind of hard to have the thought of having to keep that consistency throughout the weeks.

"But the other day I thought I'm going to put that to the back of my head, the leaderboard and the scores and actually just go out and dance like it's the last time we dance it. You never know when it's going to be the last time."

Tasha also said she wasn’t fazed by criticism she’s received regarding her dance past, pointing out the competition is completely different to anything she has done before. She said: "I'm treating [criticism] as outside noise and I'm focusing on the positives. It's a completely different dance style and I've found such a new respect for ballroom and Latin style." She also said that her experience on Love Island has made her resilient and more prepared for the vote off. She explained: "Being on Love Island, that is quite brutal with the voting, getting coupled up, getting voted out, so that's made me stronger coming out of it. With Strictly the same, you have eliminations."

The star, who was born deaf and has worn a cochlear implant since the age of five, also candidly opened up about how she hears the music and that quieter songs are more difficult for her to dance to.

"Normally when you're teaching it's a lot of explaining but with the two of us we just dance all day every day and that's how you get better at it,” she said of her and Alijaz style. “It's beautiful how well that connection works for us because that's all we have to rely on."
