TASHA GHOURI SURPRISES DEAF MODEL ON GMB

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Tasha Ghouri surprised a deaf model on the GMB sofa.

Georgia Meacham was on the breakfast show to talk to Susanna Reid and Ed Balls about how she had hidden her cochlear implant for over a decade.

She revealed how seeing Tasha on Love Island in 2022 - when she became the first ever deaf contestant to appear on the reality show - gave her the confidence to finally open up about her own disability.

Georgia said of Tasha: "She was so confident and she was talking about it so positively, and growing up, I was always the only one at school with hearing aids, I was always the only one with a hearing aid at university with hearing aids. I've never had a friend with hearing aids or deaf – I've never been part of that community.”

When Susanna asked Georgia if she has been in contact with Tasha, she revealed she has tried through Instagram but had not yet heard back.

Then to Georgia’s surprise, Tasha walked through the studio doors to give her a hug.

Georgia through tears told Tasha: “I just want to thank you!”

Tasha is a trailblazer in her community and does so much work behind the scenes on raise awareness on deafness and is an advocate for deaf rights and British Sign Language.
Meeting Georgia was the icing on the cake for her ongoing mission, and we are so proud of Tasha for the difference she is making to people’s lives.
